Moussa says problems face convening Arab summit
Egypt, Politics, 6/17/1999
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa stated that there are problems facing convening the Arab summit, calling on the Arab stated not to allow these problems to prevent the convening of the summit, specifically as no Arab summit has convened since 1996, even though four five-fold summits have been held.
Moussa said during the inauguration of Egyptian foreign council that there are current contacts being made between Arab leaders to reach a united position for the summit.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has called for convening a comprehensive summit as soon as possible, considering it a necessity to heal the rifts of the Arab positions and to confront their challenge.
Mubarak, moreover, said that contacts to hold a comprehensive summit will start immediately, adding that the consultations held recently with Arab leaders uncovered the collective approval toward holding the summit.
