Jordan ignores Israel's request to mediate to release Jews in Iran
Jordan-Iran, Politics, 6/17/1999

Jordan ignored Israel's request to mediate with Tehran to release the detained Jews in Iran accused of spying so this does not spoil the visit to be paid by Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi to Amman on Saturday, the first visit for a high-ranking Iranian official to Jordan since the Islamic revolution.

The Jordanian officials are paying great concern to this visit during which Kharazi will meet King Abdullah the second and high ranking officials to discuss means of developing bilateral ties and dimensions of regional developments.

Jordanian officials consider that the improvement in relations between their country and Iran is a part of improvement of the Arab - Iranian relations, yet they referred that "this improvement does not mean staying away from brothers in the Gulf regarding which Amman sees its relations with them are strategic."

The relations improvement between Iran and Jordan started after a stage of rupture during the first gulf war.
