Government reshuffle in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 6/17/1999

King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday enacted a royal decree providing for making a ministerial reshuffle in Saudi Arabia -- the second in 25 years -- in which main ministers kept their posts.

The reshuffle was limited to four ministries out of 22, while a new ministry for civil services was established.

The ministries which underwent the reshuffle were the Ministry of Islamic
Affairs, al-Awqaf and Islamic Call, as well as the ministries of planning, al-Haj and labor and social affairs.

Sheikh Saleh Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Muhammad Bin Ibrahim al-Sheikh has become the minister of Islamic affairs, al-Awqaf and the Islamic call instead of Abdullah Bin Abdul Mohsin al-Turkei, who was appointed as a consultant at the royal court.

Eyad Bin Amin Madani has become a minister of al-Haj instead of Mahmoud Bin Muhamad Safar

Ali Bin Ibrahim al-Nemlaa has become the minister of labor and social affairs instead of Musaed Bin Muhammad al-Senani, and Khaled Bin Muhammad al-Quseibi was appointed as a minister of planning instead of Abdul Wahab Abdul Salaam al-Attar.

The new Saudi government has 23 ministers instead of 22 after the new ministry of civil services was established with Muhammad Bin Ali al-Fayez as its minister. Fayez was the chairman of the civil services divan.

The task of the new ministry is to supervise civil services affairs in the kingdom's ministries.
