Israel-Regional, Politics, 6/17/1999
Israel's agency in charge of Jewish settlement has declared a new settlement plan that provides for bringing in and settling 1,000 Ethiopian Jews in the occupied Arab territories.
The agency's director general said a plan to bring in another 1,000 Ethiopian Jews has actually started on the Ethiopian side, as Jews are brought from far villages and gathered together in one of the main Ethiopian cities and will be brought and settled in the occupied Arab lands.
He stressed that the aforesaid 1,000 Ethiopian Jews are not part of the 3,000 Ethiopian Jews the Israeli government has recently decided to bring and settle in the occupied Arab territories.
In an interview with the Israeli army radio on Wednesday the agency's chairman added that the campaign to bring in Ethiopian Jews to Israel will continue under the government of the Israeli prime minister-elect, who for his part stressed his total backing to bringing in Jews from all parts of the world and settling them in the Israel and the occupied Arab lands.
