Tomorrow is desertification day

The World Day to Combat Desertification is to be observed tomorrow. Lena Poulsen, Technical Adviser in the Office to Combat Desertification and Drought of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), said the occasion would highlight the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, dealing with drylands, which cover 40 of the world's total landmass. She said that one objective of this occasion would be to promote women's role in implementation of the Convention to Combat Desertification.
