Election campaign in Kuwait will ensure lively debate
Kuwait, Politics, 6/16/1999

Election campaigns in Kuwait are intensifying, as this week will witness candidates opening their election headquarters.

The candidates are focusing on directing accusations against the government and ministers for corruption and ineptitude in managing the governmental budget and affairs. Islamic candidate Walid El-Tabtani threatened to interrogate a minister every week in the coming council.

Mubarak El-Doweila of the Muslim Brothers said, "We do not feel honored to be ministers in a government that are chosen according to futile practices."

On the other hand, the Kuwaiti Cabinet decided to leave the issue of appointing six members of the municipal council to the government that will be formed in July after the election of the Nation's Council.
