More Israeli spying in Iran
Iran, Politics, 6/16/1999
The Iranian mission at the UN has asserted that the Iranian authorities have arrested more spies who worked for Israel in Iran. In a statement released on Monday night at UN headquarters in New York, the Iranian mission said the number of arrested people exceeds 13, who are believed to be Iranian Jews who spied for the interest of Israel.
An Iranian official said that the question (of the spies) is still under debate and that the arrest came following vast and secret investigations. The statement criticized the calls advocated by the US to release the arrested Jews who spied in favor of Israel. It said such calls constitute a flagrant intervention in the Iranian judicial system, SANA reported.
