Algerian FIS representative vows support to Bouteflika

The representative for the executive commission of Algeria's banned Islamic Salvation Front (FIS), Rabeh Kabeer, has announced his total backing for the process of national reconciliation and for stances advocated by Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. In a statement issued by the Algerian dailies on Tuesday Kabeer called on all gunmen to join the track of national reconciliation in the service of Algeria's religion, people and homeland.

Kabeer also stressed in his statement his readiness to exert all efforts to surpass the crisis Algeria undergoes and to achieve security and stability in the region.

Algerian official sources expected that the parliament is to discuss at the end of current month the draft pardon law currently prepared by the government.

In his statement yesterday, Kabeer urged all armed fighters to respond to the call of the FIS and to join the national reconciliation track as a service to Algeria's people, religion and country.
