British MP delegation backs Morocco's position on Sahara
Morocco-UK, Politics, 6/15/1999

A British MP delegation voiced on Monday backing for Morocco's position regarding the Sahara issue. "We assure you of our backing," regarding this issue, the British MPs said during meetings with groups at the Moroccan House of Representatives (lower house of parliament).

The British delegation includes Austin Mitchell, Ms. Linda Perham, Mrs. Rosemary McKenna and Kerry Pollard. The four are representatives of the Labor Party of Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The MPs said the Moroccan-British parliamentary friendship group endeavors to "counter the Polisario propaganda in England" through fostering awareness of the democratic and human rights progress in Morocco.

The British delegation also conferred with Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi, with several members of the Cabinet and with the speaker of the chamber of advisors.

Talks focused on Morocco's democratic progress and development efforts in various fields.
