Damascus-Amman passenger train link to open July 16

The Syrian director of the al-Hijaz railway line establishment, Salah Ahmad, and his Jordanian counterpart Abdul Razzaq Abu al-Filat stated that as of July 16, the train route from Damascus to Aleppo will start trips twice a week. In a meeting held on Monday in Damascus, the two sides agreed to improve cargo trains and ensure facilities for economic establishments and traders.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of completing the modern railway line linking Syria and Jordan. The Syrian side had drawn up a study on erecting this special railway. About 37% of earth works and 7% of construction works have been carried out.
