A dissociation inside the Palestinian police
Palestine, Politics, 6/12/1999

Palestinian police officers criticized Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, accusing him of treason and saying he is an Israeli agent who is cooperating with Israel and informing them about Arabs, Palestine, Hamas, the Islamic Jihad and the Palestinian opposition.

The officers, who described themselves as liberal officers, said Arafat gave power and authority to group affiliated to him, incuding spies and agents. They said there are 3,000 persons in this group who were offered free movement and travel abroad. They added that the group received bribes and obtained luxurious flats affiliated to the Palestinian Authority while Arafat is depriving the Palestinian soldiers of their small wages.

The liberal officers, moreover, said that when Arafat arrives in Palestine, he should leave immediately because he doesn't deserve to live in the land that witnessed thousand of martyrs dying for its liberation.

The Palestinian Authority criticized the statement saying it was released by cowards, because they did not give their names, adding that this statement aims at undermining the police and the Palestinian Authority.
