Upgrading mobile phone sector in Lebanon

Lebanon called on international consulting companies working in the field of mobile phone service for an international bid to find the best ways to upgrade the mobile phone sector in Lebanon, according to which the selected company will present its ideas to the Lebanese government during the current negotiations with the mobile phone companies CELY and Lebanon CELL and drafting a strategic plan on the future of the beginning markets for mobile phones in Lebanon
The government then will discuss several choices, including converting the contracts ratified with the companies on B.O.T (build-operate-transfer) system for 10 years into authorization accords extending the term of these contracts and studying the establishment of new companies working in mobile phones.
The number of participants in mobile telephone field in Lebanon amounts to 580,000.
