300 million pounds to establish British University in Egypt
Egypt, Education, 6/11/1999
At the conclusion of its meetings yesterday, the Egyptian - British Business Council decided to approve the establishment of a British university in Egypt at a cost of 300 million L.E.
The council determined to open the door of grants and donations from different works' organizations in the two countries to establish the British University.
Moreover, five Egyptian businessmen, all of whom graduated from British institutes and universities, said they would host buildings for the university on the estates they owned: Salah Diab, Dr. Hossam El- Badrawi, Awlad Alam, Fathalla Fawzi and Mohammed Seliman.
The British university is considered to be the third foreign university to be built in Egypt, after the approval of building a French university in 2001, and a German university in 2002. They will be built in the same way as the American University in Cairo (AUC), which has been working in Cairo for 75 years.
