Khartoum: open strike for civil employees in the northern province

Civil employees of the Northern province in Sudan have announced an open-ended strike as of Wednesday in objection over not being paid the wage increase approved in the state's budget.
The Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am said that the employees' syndicate announced a new open strike after the decision taken by the province not to increase the wages more than 25% while the approved increase is 50%. According to official statistics the population of the province is estimated at 520,000.
