Ethiopian attack against Somali city
Somalia-Ethiopia, Politics, 6/7/1999
An armored Ethiopian contingent on Sunday attacked the city of Board Hudo, in southern Somalia following fierce battles that enabled the Ethiopians to control the city of Luke.
The spokesman for the Somali National Front, Ibrahim Jama Egale, said that having control on the two cities has enabled the Ethiopians to control a strategic bridge in the district of Jedou, asserting that the Ethiopian troops were guided to the place by opposing Somali militia members.
For his part, Sheikh Ali Boural, a former judge on the Somali high court, denied the presence of any Ethiopian troops in Luke or Board Hudo. He added that his militias have "dispersed gangs led by Masal" and that most people in Jedou welcomed the expulsion of the Somali National Front from the area.
