Europe follows closely progress of justice in Morocco

Spanish Ombudsman, Fernando Alvarez de Miranda, said Thursday here that "Europe follows with great interest the reforms ushered in by Morocco in the field of Justice." At a meeting with Moroccan minister of Justice Omar Azziman, De Miranda hailed the sustained efforts made by Morocco to consolidate the rule of law and enhance democracy.
He also praised Morocco's firm resolve to modernize its judiciary apparatus, improve its management and efficiency to protect the citizens' basic rights.
De Miranda, who arrived early this week in Morocco on a several-day work visit, had Thursday intensive talks with several Moroccan cabinet members including Human Rights minister, Mohamed Aujjar, and head of the Moroccan Human Rights Advisory Council, Driss Dahak.
De Miranda was briefed on Morocco's political alternation experience and on the progress made by the kingdom for the promotion of human rights culture and the reinforcement of constitutional institutions.
During the talks, the Moroccan side called for the respect of immigrants' rights and urged European countries to assist Morocco combat international rings trading with human lives.
