Symposium in Athens to discuss investment in Egypt
Egypt-Greece, Economics, 6/4/1999

The Greek ambassador in Cairo said that Athens (capital of Greece) is due to host on June 16 an economic symposium on investment in Egypt in which Egyptian central bank governor Ismael Hassan, Ibrahim Fawzy the head of the Egyptian investment department as well as a number of businessmen and banks from Greece are going to participate. He added that convening this summit reflects the concern of the Greek companies with strengthening their relation with local markets.

The ambassador expected that the coming period will witness an increase in the volume of trade between the two countries, compared to its current levels. He added that the volume of trade exchange amounted last year to $500 million, where the trade balance was in Egypt's favor.

The value of Egypt's exports to Greece amounted to $400 million.
