Marrakesh folk arts festival opens on June 11

The 35th national folk arts festival will be held in Marrakesh this June 11-20 under the topic "the magic of seasons." Some 44 folk troupes from the various regions of Morocco and troupes from Egypt, India, Iraq, Kuwait, Palestine, Poland, saudi Arabia, Spain and Turkey will take part in the festival.
On the sidelines of the festival, exhibitions will display paintings and handicraft items and lectures will be given on a set of topics including "the Moroccan carpet, originality and creation," "Jamaa El Fna, humankind oral heritage" and "the history of Andalucian music."
