Mediterranean meeting on human rights in Rabat on Friday

The committee in charge of following up and implementing decisions made by the first meeting of Mediterranean national institutions promoting and protecting human rights will hold a meeting in Rabat next Friday.

The committee is made up of the chiefs of the national human rights institutions of Algeria, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Tunisia in addition to a delegate of the U.N. human rights high commissioner.

The first meeting of Mediterranean national human rights institutions was held in Marrakesh in 1998.

Morocco will also play host in April 2000 to the fifth international meeting of national human rights institutions.
