King Hassan receives new ambassadors, prays for end of India-Pakistan conflict
Morocco, Politics, 6/2/1999

King Hassan II received on Tuesday in the royal palace of Rabat a group of newly appointed ambassadors to Morocco who handed him their credentials and received other diplomats who bade him farewell at the end of their mission in Morocco.

The new ambassadors are Georgi Benchev Karev of the Republic of Bulgaria, Indraht Sinch Rathore of the Republic of India, Abdeljabbar Omar Ghani Addouri of the republic of Iraq, Anthony Michael Layden of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Pavel Jajtner of the Czech Republic, Hiromi Sato of Japan, Mohamed Salah Abdelouahab of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Mostapha Hassan Mostapha of the Republic of Lebanon.

The king also received the ambassadors of the Republic of Mali, Ahmed Mohamed Haj Hamani, and of Norway, Arne Bierger Honning Stad who came to bid the sovereign farewell at the end of their mission in Morocco.

The King granted the two outgoing ambassadors prestigious decorations.

The King called for peace in the world and prayed for an end to the conflict between India and Pakistan. The king deplored the proliferation of armed conflicts throughout the world, such as in Lebanon, India and Pakistan, Kosovo and Iraq.

"When we glance at the geographic map of the regions you represent, we find out that wars exist, conflicts are raging almost everywhere in your regions. Thus we see the tragedy of Lebanon and its neighbors, we see the Indian-Pakistani tragedy and we hope and pray God, that it will end. We see the tragedy of Kosovo on the border of Bulgaria. We see the tragedy and the ordeal of the Iraq people, its men, women, children and old people," King Hassan II said.

He added that it was high time the world overcame these conflicts and started thinking about the future and about building up a civilization.
