One million pound reward for each player on Egypt's handball team if they win world championship

A group of Egyptian companies said they will specify the amount of one million pounds for each player on Egypt's national handball team if the team wins the world championship, which are currently held in Cairo through June 15.

The Egyptian team previously won the world handball championship for youths in 1993, also in Egypt.

Eight players from the 1993 team are participating in this tournament.

President Mubarak witnessed the tournament's opening celebrations yesterday, which were broadcast by 40 television stations and viewed by 200 million spectators according to the statistics of the organizing committee.

Egypt defeated Brazil 28 - 19 in the opening game of the championship. 24 teams from all over the world are participating in this championship among which are five Arab states: Algeria,, Kuwait Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Tunis.

These matches will be held in three cities (Cairo, Ismailia and Port Said).
