OIC secretary calls on Pakistan, India for self-control

Organization of the Islamic Conference Secretary General Azzedin Laraki has called on Pakistan and India for self control and to follow up the peace initiative crystallized in the Lahore declaration signed by Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his Pakistani counterpart, Nawaz Sharif.
In a statement issued on Tuesday at the headquarters of the OIC in Jeddah, Laraki welcomed Pakistan's dispatching its foreign minister to New Delhi to discuss means of putting an end to the current escalation on the borders between India and Pakistan in the Kashmir district.
He called on the UN to carry out a greater role in Kashmir to limit the escalation of conflicts in the region according to the UN's principles and its charter.
