Sudanese minister of justice: Sudan has no future without Egypt
Sudan, Politics, 6/1/1999

Sudanese Minister of Justice and Attorney General Mohammed Othman Yassin, stated that Sudan has no future without Egypt, specifically in light of current developments that witness a real threat to Sudan's identity.

He also expressed his hope that disputes that have taken place in the past would "just be a summer cloud so we can learn from previous mistakes."

He said the call of some opposition forces to try former Sudanese President Jaafar Nimieri, who has recently returned from exile to Sudan, is a sort of game, adding that these forces know well the illegality of these demands, especially after the presidential amnesty issued by President Omar El-Bashir to all opposition leaders abroad, so there is not any reason for filing lawsuits against Nimieri or presenting him to trial.
