Sudan pledges to combat terrorism
Sudan, Politics, 6/1/1999

Sudan will endorse next week all the international agreements for combating terrorism, after it endorsed last week the Arab anti-terrorism agreement.

In press declarations today, Sudanese Foreign Minister Mostafa Othman Ismael said, "We have accepted the peaceful exchange of authority, which is the only means for ending wars in Sudan," confirming that there is a relaxation in the relations between the government and the opposition after the return of former President Jaafar Nimeiri and the current contacts.

He added that terrorism was the focus of many dialogues, adding, "We are committed to the combating of terrorism," thus that week Sudan endorsed an agreement not to manufacture chemical weapons.

Ismael said that terrorism is to be surpassed in cooperation with the countries seeking to overcome terrorism.
