Meanwhile, President Mubarak and the Jordanian King have called for resuming the Middle East peace talks on all tracks and to implement signed agreements and obligations in line with the Madrid conference terms of reference and the land-for-peace formula. At the conclusion of their talks, the two sides stressed that achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East can be attained only through the restoration of all occupied Arab territories in the Golan, south Lebanon and Palestine and the establishment of the Palestinian state.

The Egyptian president and King Abdullah stressed the importance of formulating a united Arab position to counter challenges in light of developments in the Israeli arena. The two sides agreed to continue contacts and coordination in order to follow up on the Middle East peace process.

For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa stressed his country's rejection of any attempt made to violate the UN legitimacy resolutions and the land-for-peace formula. He asserted that just and comprehensive peace requires the restoration of all occupied Arab lands.

Later in the day, President Mubarak presided over a ministerial meeting during which a report was read by the Foreign Minister Amr Moussa on the results of his visit to Damascus and the message President Mubarak sent to President Hafez al-Assad in the context of continued coordination between the two presidents towards the peace process and Arab matters.
