Kharazi to visit Jordan in June
Jordan-Iran, Politics, 5/31/1999
Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi will head to Jordan on June 19 for a two-day official visit, during which he will carry a message from Iranian President Mohammed Khatami, that includes an official invitation for King Abdullah to visit Tehran.
The visit will discuss bilateral relations and new developments in Iraq.
Meanwhile, Iranian sources told ArabicNews.com that there is no mediation made by Omani Foreign Minister Youssef bin Alawi between the United Arab Emirates and Iran for resolving the dispute over three Gulf islands as both Iran and the UAE claim sovereignty over the islands: Greater and Lesser Tanb and Abu Mousa.
Kharazi's visit to Amman has a special importance as it is the first for an Iranian foreign minister since the Islamic revolution in 1979.
