Moroccan - Egyptian consultations to prepare for high joint committee
Morocco-Egypt, Politics, 5/29/1999

Egypt and Morocco have agreed to convene the third session of the Egyptian - Moroccan high joint committee in Rabat during the first half of June, under the chairmanship of Morocco's King Hassan II and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

The meeting had been postponed due to the developments of the situation in Middle East and the arrangements surrounding the holding of the Israeli elections.

The sources said that arrangements are being persued between the two sides to organize a meeting between King Hassan and President Mubarak.

Morocco will hold the preparatory meetings on the experts' level within the coming days to set up for the projects that will be examined during the works of the joint committee.

The sources stated that the Egyptian - Moroccan meeting will review eight agreements concerning bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of coastal fishery, transportation, agriculture and social affairs.

The works of the committee in its previous session last May resulted in the ratification of the implementation of the free exchange agreement between the two countries in April, as well as 30 understanding notes and accords on different fields of cooperation between the two countries.
