Lebanon refuses to present guarantees for Israeli withdrawal from the south

Lebanon has confirmed its refusal to present any guarantees for a partial Israeli withdrawal from the south. Lebanese President Emil Lahoud said that reports of an Israeli withdrawal will not pull his country to steps that do not agree with what it has said before.

He renewed Lebanon's position that refuses to present guarantees or arrangements for the Israeli withdrawal outside of a comprehensive peace incuding both Syria and Lebanon.

Reports from south Lebanon said that the leader of the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army, Antoine Lahd, Israeli called the Israeli leadership to Jezzine to meet today to explain to them the reasons and motives for withdrawal from Jezzine, adding that a state of terror and fear prevails among the officials and members of his militia.
