Jordanian - Egyptian summit tomorrow

A Jordanian - Egyptian summit is to be held tomorrow evening to prepare for the five-fold summit which Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has called for, to coordinate positions between the countries concerned with peace process (Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine) after Ehud Barak won the Israeli elections.
The summit between Mubarak and Jordan's King Abdullah comes before the Egyptian - Syrian summit at Damascus within days, during which the date of convening the five-fold summit and its agenda will be determined.
Cairo lays a great importance on concerning this summit before Mubarak's visit to Washington and his talks with US President Bill Clinton.
Egyptian diplomatic sources referred to the importance of emphasizing the decisions released by the Cairo summit held in June 1996.
Similarity was noticed in the circumstances and atmospheres between the five-fold summit and the Cairo summit, each of which came after Israeli elections leading to the change of the Israeli prime minister and ruling political structure.
King Abdullah's visit to Egypt, his second since he came to power, comes as part of a tour of several countries.
King Abdullah is to travel from Cairo on Monday to Algeria to congratulate new Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on his new post.
King Abdullah is accompanied by a high-ranking delegation that includes Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh; the head of the royal divan, Abdul Karim al-Kabareiti; Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah al-Khatib and the ministers of health, industry, and trade as well as a number of military advisors.
The Jordanian ambassador at Egypt, Tard El-Fayez, said that King Abdullah will brief President Mubarak on the results of his talks in Washington, his meetings during his recent European tour and his talks with Arafat in Gaza strip.
