Egypt to host COMESA summit in 2001
Egypt, Economics, 5/28/1999

Countries belonging to the COMESA group (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) agreed to hold the organization's coming summit in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The meeting will be held in the year 2001, and Egypt will undertake the chairmanship of the group during this period.

Cairo will also host the regional economic conference for COMESA at the beginning of February 2000, which will be attended by businessmen in addition to regional and international economic corporations working in Africa.

The COMESA summit resulted in numerous recommendations, among which is having an annual meeting for the foreign ministers of the group for consultation in addition to taking executive steps to activate trade movement among the group's countries and remove all obstacles that stand in the way of joint trade movement.
