Abdul Meguid to visit France

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid will head to Paris on May 31 to fulfill an invitation from the French government.
Diplomatic sources in the Arab League said Abdul Meguid will meet with French President Jacques Chirac and discuss with him the development of the situation in the Middle East and the Middle East peace process as well as the development of the situation in Iraq.
The sources added that Abdul Meguid will meet with French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine to discuss the Egyptian - French initiative for pushing forward the peace process and France's initiative for lifting the sanctions off Iraq.
Abdul Meguid will inform French officials of the refusal of the Arab states of the support presented by Washington to the Iraqi opposition, confirming that this contradicts international resolutions.
