Israeli court examines the arrest of 21 Lebanese prisoners
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 5/27/1999

The Israeli high court continued today to examine the arrest of 21 Lebanese in Israel, including Mostafa El-Didani and Abdul Karim Obeid, two public leaders who were abducted by Israel in 1989 and 1994.

Last year the Israeli high court decided that the Israeli authorities could detain those persons as bargaining chips to exchange for missing Israeli soldiers.

The Lebanese prisoners reside in isolated jails in one of Dier Sabh prison's wings at the Negev Desert in southern Israeli.

Thus the defendants of the detainees say that detaining those Lebanese people contradicts the humanitarian principals, the moral values and international law because they are deprived of their freedom without guilt.
