Morocco $50 million dollars to upgrade a gold mine

The mining company affiliated to the Moroccan ONA (Omnium Nord-Africain) group has announced that it set out $50 million to upgrade the Aka mine in southern Morocco, the monthly economic news released by Moroccan embassy in Cairo said, adding that this amount aims at upgrading the reserves of the gold mine.

The report said the volume of investment paid in the mine has amounted to 190 million dirhams to upgrade the quality of its gold stock, adding that the reserves of the mine amount to 30 tons of gold.

It said the mining company is expected to begin the production of gold in 2001, providing 450 job opportunities at the mine, located southeast of Aghadeer harbor along the ocean.
