Further cooperation between Turkey and Israel

The "Turkish Daily News" daily said on Tuesday that the Israeli companies have proposed to their Turkish counterparts job opportunities in Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The paper quoted the chairman of the Turkish-Israeli trade council, Ekrem Esat Guvendiren, as saying following a visit to Israel and holding talks with Israeli trade experts and economists that Israel had proposed the possibility of implementing joint Turkish -Israeli projects in the countries of central Asia. Guvendiren added that developing relations with Israel has become part of the context of Turkey's official policy and that it is ripe time that Turkish businessmen get to know about Israel and Israeli businessmen to know Turkey.

The volume of trade exchange between Israel and Turkey increased from US $300 million in 1995 to US $800 million in 1998.
