Europe welcomes the outcome of Israel's elections

The German ambassador in Lebanon, Peter Wittig expressed his country's and the European Union's welcome to the indications reflected by the outcome of last week's Israeli elections, calling at the same time for waiting to learn about the formation of the Israeli government.

Wittig also announced a new tour that European peace envoy Miguel Angel Moratinos is going to pay soon, to follow up on contacts in light of the Israeli elections.

Following his meeting today with the Lebanese Foreign Ministry's secretary general, Zafer El-Hassan, the German official said he was received a complete evaluation of the Lebanese position on the situation in the region after Israeli elections and its results.
