Egypt asks travelers to Sudan to vaccinate against meningitis

The department of guidance for travels abroad in the Egyptian Foreign Ministry asked all Egyptian citizens traveling to Sudan to vaccinate against meningitis, outbreaks of which recently occurred in many areas of Sudan due to which tens of thousands were affected.

Ambassador Mohammed Akel, manager of guidance for travelers abroad said that necessary procedures were taken in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the concerned parties in airports and Aswan maritime harbor to make sure of not having any Egyptian citizens traveled to Sudan unless he obtained the necessary vaccines and having a health certificate of it.

He added, "Despite of the great efforts exerted by the Sudanese government for combating the disease," deaths reached 1,613 during the last four months, which is considered plague conditions.
