Egypt-COMESA, Economics, 5/26/1999

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received today a detailed report on the outcome of the COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) summit's meetings, in which Egypt took part for the first time, from Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa who headed the Egyptian to the meetings.

The summit concluded its works yesterday in Nairobi.

Following the meeting, Moussa said the report he presented to Mubarak included the contacts and consultations Moussa held with leaders of African countries who took part in the summit.

Countries from southern and eastern Africa particpating in the COMESA confirmed the demand of the group of countries to uphold peace and security as the essentials for economic development and achieving the goals of economic and regional integration.

The summit's concluding statement asked for condensing efforts to remove customs obstacles and any other obstacles facing trade.
