Syrian waters meet 30% of Jordanian demands
Jordan-Syria, Economics, 5/26/1999
Jordanian Minister of Water and Irrigation Kamal Mahadin has stated that the Syrian waters which come from the "Martyr Bassel al-Assad Dam" in the al-Golan Saham area to Jordan will meet almost 25 to 30 percent of the water shortage in Jordan for this summer.
In a statement he gave to the Jordanian weekly al-Sabeel issued on Tuesday, Mahadin described the Syrian water as very fresh because it is melted snow water. Mahadin continued that this Syrian water will improve the quality of surface water in Jordan.
