Hizbullah party vows continued resistance against Israel
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 5/26/1999
The assistant secretary general for the Hizbullah Party, Sheikh Naeem Qasem, said that the Lebanese resistance will continue against the Israeli occupation forces in south Lebanon until total Israeli unconditional pullback is fully realized.
In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Seyassah, issued on Tuesday, Qasem added, "It is totally unacceptable to give Israel rewards for its withdrawal from south Lebanon," in reference to preconditions set by Israel for maintaining such a withdrawal.
Qasem continued that the leader of the new Israeli government, Ehud Barak, has only two months of time to decide his real intentions about withdrawal from south Lebanon.
Meanwhile, according to Israeli army radio, a state of alert was imposed on Tuesday in the early morning among different units of the Israeli navy. This alert was declared following a suspicion about an attempt made by a boat of the Lebanese resistance to enter Israel.
Elsewhere, The Lebanese towns of Zalaya valley, Abu Dehn area, Qalaya and Jabal al-Daher in the western Bekaa area were attacked by more than 12 Israeli bombs on Tuesday, Lebanese security sources reported.
Moreover, Israeli warplanes carried out mock raids over the western Bekaa in south Lebanon. The planes also flew over the Nabateyah and al-Tuffah areas at low altitude, the Lebanese security sources added.
