Bishara comments on Barak's 'nos'
Israel, Politics, 5/26/1999

The chairman of the al-Bilad movement for Palestinian Israelis, Azmi Bishara, said that behavior and statements of Israeli Prime Minister-elect Ehud Barak do not reveal a sincere intention towards the Palestinians in general and the Palestinian Israelis, in particular.

In an inter-view with Israeli army radio on Tuesday, Bishara said the al-Bilad movement, which recently won two seats in the Israeli elections, does not want to join the governmental coaltion, adding his movement does not have the hope that Barak will propose a participation as such.

He added he will concentrate his consultations with Barak's negotiating team on the next government's coalition on general political matters, especially the question of the peace negotiations.

Bishara ruled out the possibility of reaching a genuine peace in the region as long as Barak is committed to his usual "nos," in which he refused the basics of the Middle East peace process.
