Morocco ratifies international convention on minimum child-labor age
Morocco, Culture, 5/25/1999
Morocco has ratified the international convention setting the minimum child-labor age. The convention commits signatory countries to draw a policy to fight all forms of child's labor and the gradual increase of the minimum working age in order to guarantee to children the appropriate conditions for their physical and mental well being.
Under the convention that enters into force one year after the ratification documents are deposited, the minimum working age should be after the compulsory schooling period and, in any case, not less than 15 years.
The ratification was made as Morocco is celebrating on Tuesday the national children day.
