Kuwait: A new allowing the women to vote and elect
Kuwait, Politics, 5/25/1999

Prince Jaber al-Ahmed al-Sabah has approved a draft to amend the election law that will give women the right to vote and participate in the parliament, but Islamic groups refused the draft.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Justice released a warning to the mosque's Imams, warning them against intervening in the elections after some of them spoke against the decree during the sermon of Friday prayers.

Thus, this subject became one of the most important subjects around which the deputies, electioneers spoke where the law is going to be applied in 2003.

Kuwait had been a witness to a vibrant debate on the state of the economy, employment and foreign companies' participation in petroleum drilling.
