Gaddafi meets with Mubarak in Syrte

Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi on Sunday night held a meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who arrived in Syrte earlier in the day.
Talks dealt with conditions in the Arab region, developments in the African and international arenas and means of boosting bilateral relations between Libya and Egypt in light of the approaching meeting of the joint Egyptian-Libyan higher joint committee due to be convened next month.
President Mubarak in this visit was accompanied by Information Minister Safwat al-Sharif, Finance Minister Mohieddin El-Gharib, presidential office director Zakaraya Azmi and President Mubarak's political advisor, Osama El-Baz.
On the Libyan side, the meeting was attended by the two members of the council of the Libyan revolution leadership, Lt. Gen. Abu Baker Younis Jaber and Lt. Gen. Mustafa al-Khatoubi; and the Libyan people's committee secretary for foreign contacts and international co-operation (foreign minister), Omar al-Muntasir. The Egyptian side was represented by members of the delegation accompanying President Mubarak.
