Israel continues attacks against south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 5/24/1999

Israeli occupation forces on Sunday bombarded al-Mansouri town with internationally-banned shells. According to Lebanese security sources, two Lebanese civilians were wounded as a result of the bombardment.

The Israeli bombardment also resulted in severing the electricity power line between the towns of Majdal Zoun and Zibqin.

The Lebanese security sources added that the Israeli artillery stationed in Mohibib shelled the towns of Falloun, al-Ghandourieh, Qalqerya, al-Hajii valley, Toulin, al-Sawanneh, Shakka and Majdal Suloum in the central sector.

Israeli heavy artillery also bombarded the towns of Tair Harfa, Majdal Zoun, Zibqin, Kafra and Eita al-Jabal. The Israeli attacks were accompanied by heavy machine gun fire targeting roads that lead to the towns of the central and western sectors of south Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Israeli warplanes carried out mock raids at a low altitude over large areas in south Lebanon. In retaliation to the Israeli aggressions which targeted on Saturday night the towns of south Lebanon, especially the al-Mansouri town, the Lebanese resistance attacked on Saturday the Israeli positions inside the occupation position in Beer Klab and direct hits were achieved.

In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said that another Lebanese resistance group attacked the Israeli moves inside Balat position.

Moreover, two Lebanese farmers were wounded on Sunday by a shell fired from the Israeli-occupied part of south Lebanon, said Lebanese security sources. The sources added the shell landed close to 45 year old Muhammad Bajak and 46-year old Naser Reda while they were watering a citrus grove outside Mansoureyah, a village south of Tyre bordering the occupied zone of south Lebanon.

Both men were admitted to the hospital where they were treated for sharp wounds. The two men raised to 42 the number of Lebanese civilians wounded in the south Lebanon conflict since January 1999. Seven Lebanese civilians were killed during the same period.
