Ten civilians killed in Algeria
Algeria, Politics, 5/24/1999

The Algerian dailies issued on Sunday said that armed groups killed ten civilians from Maqrani village in Medea province, 70 km south of the Algerian capital, SANA reported.

The Algerian dailies al-Khabar and Liberte said the ten civilians were slaughtered, while another three were wounded, adding that the gunmen bombarded the houses of the victims before they fled to the nearby mountains.

The two Algerian dailies explained that some 20 gunmen raided the village and carried out the attack, the third of its kind in Algeria this month.

Meanwhile, the criminal court at the Algerian Wahran province has sentenced 20-year imprisonment against Mu'adab Murabit Jamaleddine, known as "Prince Farouk" under the charge of being linked to 13 criminal cases in the course of the criminal acts carried out by the Armed Islamic Group in Algeria.

The same court also adopted several imprisonment sentences on several members of the Armed Islamic Group.
