Qatari large gas project with Pakistan
Qatar-Pakistan, Economics, 5/24/1999
Qatar and Pakistan are presently trying to progress in a project to transport Qatari gas to Pakistan at a project of a cost estimated at US $3 billion.
The Qatari daily "Gulf Times" quoted Qatari Minister of Energy Abdullah al-Ateyah as saying at the conclusion of a meeting held by a joint ministerial committee representing the two countries that a branch committee on oil and gas will take a decision in this matter as well as measures to push this project forward.
The Asian market is the most important market for Qatari gas.
Qatar's gas reserves are estimated at 8,500 billion cubic meters. This figure represents the world's third-largest gas reserves, following those of Russia and Iran.
