Erekat calls for stop to establishing new settlements
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 5/21/1999

Palestinian minister of local government and chief negotiator Saeb Erekat urged the US administration and the European countries to take immediate steps to stop the continuing Israeli settlement works in the Palestinian lands that have increased in last days in Ras al-Amoud and Gabal Abu Ghneim in Jerusalem which he said destroy the peace process.

He called for an Arab solidarity that calls on the international public opinion to pressure Israel to withdraw from all occupied lands and implement the signed agreements and force Prime Minister-elect Ehud Barak to adhere to the principle of land-for-peace as well as to implement UN Security Council resolutions 243 and 338, which call for Israel's withdrawal from all occupied Arab lands and for finding a just solution for the Palstinian refugees' situation.
