Morocco is able to host 2006 World Cup, minister says
Morocco, Sports, 5/20/1999

Morocco is able to raise the needed funds for building sports infrastructures to host the 2006 World Cup, the Moroccan sports and youth minister said. Morocco can raise the needed funds which do not exceed $200 million, Ahmed Moussaoui said at the weekly question time at the parliament.

Morocco is competing with South Africa, Brazil, England and Germany to host the 2006 World Cup.

The minister, who said that his department will build a sports complex in each region of Morocco, underlined that Morocco presented its bid after studying all the financial commitments required by the world football governing body, FIFA.

Morocco had failed to host the world competition in 1994 (USA) and 1998 (France).
