Arafat in Cairo on Saturday

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is expected to arrive in Cairo on Saturday to hold talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, their first meeting following results of the Israeli elections. The visit aims at defining future steps to resume negotiations on the Palestinian track.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the PLO political department, Farouk al-Qaddoumi, left Cairo on Wednesday for Tunisia following a three-day visit during which he held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa. Al-Qaddoumi also gave a lecture at the American University in Cairo, which dealt with future of the peace process on the Palestinian track.
