Sanaa commends closing the file of misunderstanding with Kuwait
Yemen-Kuwait, Politics, 5/20/1999

The Yemeni Cabinet on Wednesday commended the results of the visit held by the Yemeni deputy premier and foreign minister Abdul Qader Bajmal to Kuwait last Saturday and the restoration of relations between the two states to normalcy.

During its Wednesday meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Abdul Karim al-Iryani, the Yemeni Cabinet praised the visit and Bajmal's talks with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, and his meeting with both the Kuwaiti prince and crown prince and considered this visit as "a great achievement for the interests of the peoples of the two countries."

The Yemeni Cabinet stressed "restoring fraternal relations to normalcy and opening a new page."

The Cabinet stated that restoring Yemeni - Kuwaiti relations constitutes "crowning the efforts exerted by the leaders of the two states and their desire to eliminate misunderstanding which prevailed between the two countries in the past years," which followed the Gulf War.

The Yemeni Cabinet, moreover, gave instructions to all Yemeni establishments, state departments and ministries to maintain contacts with Kuwait in various economic, investment, trade and cultural fields in order to develop interests and increase confidence between the two states.
